Parent Education
Parenting can be a challenge. Where is the user manual...right!! :) Well, our babies may not come home with a " how to" book, but research has proven there are effective ways to communicate, and support happier, healthier children. Such methods can help to promote attachment and connection between parent and child. If your goal is to support your children to thrive and find their best self, then we share that in common!
When you work with Tamara to navigate your family separation, you benefit from extensive parent education training. This training and experience can:
-
inform the best interests of your children from a family law perspective
-
age appropriate parenting time based on developmental stages
-
ways to care for your children well as you negotiate your parenting plan
Tamara has experience and training in many parent education modalities, and can combine and adapt to match the individual needs of your family. Please see some examples of my training and experience below.

Dr Gottman identified a parenting style that works called the
" emotional coach". The five essential steps to Emotion Coaching
-
Be aware of your child’s emotion
-
Recognize your child’s expression of emotion as a perfect moment for intimacy and teaching
-
Listen with empathy and validate your child’s feelings
-
Help your child learn to label their emotions with words
-
Set limits when you are helping your child to solve problems or deal with upsetting situations appropriately
Effects of Emotion Coaching: Your child’s mastery of understanding and regulating their emotions will help them to succeed in life in a myriad of different ways – they will be more self-confident, perform better in social and academic situations, and even become physically healthier.
